Sustainable Commerce Frontend

EUR38 → EUR85

average order value

Verde raised order value by making sustainability curation visible inside everyday shopping flows.

The Challenge

Understanding the problem

Average order value was stuck at EUR38, close to fast-fashion benchmarks. Customers were buying single items because the storefront did not reveal meaningful product relationships.

Our Approach

Finding the path forward

We kept Shopify for commerce operations and built a headless Next.js frontend for curated discovery. The trade-off was more frontend complexity, but it let us preserve backend continuity while changing how products were grouped and explained.

We thought we needed a visual refresh. Their audit showed the bigger issue was cross-product discovery, and the AOV shift proved it.

The Solution

Bringing it all together

We introduced curated collection logic, shared-certification linking, and complementary basket suggestions based on sustainability attributes. Rich media initially made collection pages heavy, so we tuned image loading and asset strategy in the second sprint.
